Prefabrication At our Heathrow depot, we have full workshop facilities enabling us to fabricate a range of components for your domestic, commercial or industrial roofing system. Built Up Felt & Asphalt Built-up bituminous membrane, often referred to as ‘felt’, is a type of roofing covering – and, for domestic flat roofs, perhaps the most common and economical. Built-up bituminous membranes can be applied to timber, metal and concrete decks. High-performance felts are available in rolls that we can apply in two layers, with hot bitumen bonding them together. The multiple layers can help to prevent the membrane failing – as, if one layer picks up damage, the next layer will typically cover it. With the ‘pour and roll’ method, we will pour hot bitumen in front of the felt roll before unrolling the latter into the bitumen, resulting in the whole width of the roll becoming continuously coated.
